Message from the Commander in Chief

GREETINGS BROTHERS,
I wish you all a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous and Enjoyable New Year!

It is hard to believe that the Fall, and the Holiday Season are behind us and we are starting the year of 2013.

Our recent activities were a great success. Our Veteran’s Recognition Dinner was well received at Daniele’s Banquet Facility, on November 11th. My thanks to 1st Lt Commander, John Seislmeyer for chairing the afternoon program. We were able to recognize many of our Veteran’s for their dedicated service to our country.

Our Membership Night in November at The Savoy Restaurant in Rome was very well attended and it looks like we will have a good size class of Candidates for our 2013, Ill. “Bud” Combs Class. Our degree schedule starts on January 4th. As of the writing of this message we have 11 new candidates for the class.

As many of you know, Bro. Terry Williams, 320, DSA, passed away on December 8, 2013. We` extend our sympathies to his wife Joanne and his entire Family. Terry was a dedicated Scottish Rite member, degree participant and Mason. He will be missed by the entire Masonic Fraternity.

Carl Klossner, who was elected Thrice Potent Master of the Lodge of Perfection, has resigned due to
work, family and personal reasons. I thank him for his past leadership skills and we wish him well in all his future endeavors.

Bro. Frank Rice has taken over as Thrice Potent Master and we welcome him to the role of a Presiding Officer of the Valley. Frank will also be serving as Chairman of Family Life Week, which will conclude with our Family Life Banquet in April. Letters of request for participation will be going to the schools the first week of January.

The All Masonic Holiday Benefit Party was a huge success. The event raised over $7,200.00 for our
AASR Learning Center and the Shrine Patient Transportation Fund. Comedian Randy Riggle was outstanding and the evening was enjoyed by all. My thanks to those Masonic Bodies who participated and gave their support and help without complaint. My very special thanks to all our sponsors and contributors but especially to Carbone Auto Group and NBT Bank who were two of the major sponsors of the event. Special thanks must also go to John Sallustio, Master of Oriental-Faxton Lodge, who donated his professional audio and visual technical services and equipment for Randy Riggle’s show as well as his services as DJ for the evening. This was a fine benefit on behalf of these worthy causes and the kids that AASR and the Shrine serve.

I hope you will consider joining us for the start of our Degree’s on January 4th and come out to support your officers, our degree teams and to help welcome our new candidates.

Fraternally,
Wayne L. Allen, 32°, DSA
Commander in Chief
