Message from the Commander in Chief

Greetings Brothers,

The past year has gone by rapidly and it is hard to believe that my first year as Commander in Chief has concluded and we are at the start of the second year. It has been a busy year and we have had good participation in our degrees, events and functions.

I wish to thank all who have taken a part in our degree work last year. The degrees were all rendered in excellent form and I extend a special thanks to Fred Rembetski, 32°, MSA for his service and dedication as our Degree Director.

I welcome our 16 new Sublime Princes who received the 32°, in joint session with the Valley of Syracuse, in Syracuse April 27th. I hope each of you will take an active part in Scottish Rite Masonry. You are part of a very special class of new members – not only in celebrating the 200 Years of Brotherhood of Scottish Rite, but also as a member of the Vaughn A. “Bud” Combs Class. My congratulations to all.

Our Family Life Week was also a great success, with a fine attendance of over 100 people. The winners are listed here on our website. My thanks to Thrice Potent Master, Frank Rice, 32°, Chairman, and all his committee for the fine job in organizing this great annual event and their efforts in the difficult task of selecting the winning essay’s and coloring contest submissions. We are already making plans to expand and have more school participation next year.

We tried some new social functions and events this past year, which also turned out successful. Our summer workers outing was changed to a “Members Outing” with a purpose of raising some funds for our Memorial Scholarship Program. I thank Sovereign Prince, Sherm Stein and the Council of Princes of Jerusalem Officers for their work and help in making the outing a success. The All Masonic Holiday Party - started a few years ago by the Valley of Utica – adopted the purpose of being a joint benefit for our CNY - Learning Center and the Ziyara Shrine Patient Transportation Fund. The effort raised a combined total of $7,318.00 for both charities. My thanks to Ill. Dale Roberts, 2012 Potentate of Ziyara for his cooperation and assistance with the program and we both wish to thank the fine committee for their dedication and hard work. Randy Riggle was a delight and provided a great evening of comedy and fun for all present.

This coming year we are continuing to reach out and develop more new and exciting programs and events for the interest of all. The first of those will be another change in our Summer Outing. This year it will be a Member and Family Outing. The date will be Friday, August 02, 2013 at the Roselawn. Time will be 4:30PM – 7:30PM with fine summer picnic food, special events and entertainment for the kids as well as adults and maybe a few other surprises. Mark your calendars now. Complete details will be here on our website very soon and in the next issue of the News and Views.

I would be remiss if I did not also express a special personal thanks to Dan Clark, 33°, Valley Secretary and Brenda Noti,
Administrative Assistant for keeping the Office so well organized and their assistance to all our committees and events
during the year.

Our Annual Meeting and Public Installation of Officers were held on May 17th. My congratulations to the new elected and appointed officers. I look forward to working with each of you during the ensuing year, as we continue to advance and promote the fellowship, charities and purposes of Scottish Rite.

I wish you all and your families a wonderful summer. May it be filled with happy enjoyable times, fun and great family fellowship.

Wayne L. Allen, 32°, DSA
Commander in Chief
